Monte Mouro sits above the western Algarve. Its slopes are covered in native rockrose, wild herbs, and low shrubs that have grown there for as long as anyone can remember.
From the top you look straight out to the Atlantic. There's no road to the summit, no sign, no crowd. Just dry earth, wind, and the heat coming off the stone. It's the Algarve most people never see.
Every batch carries the story of the Algarve hills — wild, patient, and uncompromising

Labdanum has been prized since Egyptian, Greek and Roman times.
Small Batch
Each harvest is limited, handled with care, never mass-produced.
Sustainably Sourced
Our harvesting respects the natural cycle of the Cistus plant.
Zero Waste
The only byproduct of our extraction is simple salt water. Nothing goes to waste, nothing harms the hillside.
The journey from our hillside to your doorstep
Cistus ladanifer thrives wild in the Algarve hills. No irrigation, no fertiliser — just Mediterranean sun, limestone soil, and the Atlantic salt breeze.
At dawn, when the resin is most fragrant, we collect it by hand using traditional tools. Each bush is treated with care to ensure it continues to thrive.
Nothing is added, nothing is removed, nothing is processed. The resin you receive is exactly as it comes from the Cistus plant — wild, unrefined, and alive.
No middlemen, no warehouses, no distributors. From our hillside in the Algarve to your doorstep — packed by hand and shipped within 48 hours.
No Middlemen. No Processing. No Compromises.
Most labdanum resin passes through multiple hands before reaching you — harvesters, processors, distributors, retailers. Ours goes from our hillside straight to your door. That is the difference.

The coffinette of Tutankhamun
For millennia, labdanum has been more than a resin. It has been myth, ritual, and divine regalia.
In ancient Egyptian mythology, labdanum resin was called the Tears of Osiris. The story held that when the god of the afterlife wept, his divine tears fell onto the Cistus rockrose shrubs and crystallized into the sticky, aromatic resin we know today.
This belief was not just poetic — it shaped how labdanum was used.
Perfumery
The heart of classic amber fragrances, known for millenia.
Aromatherapy
Warm, balsamic scent that grounds and centers the mind.
Skincare
Traditionally used in balms and salves for its soothing properties.
Incense & Ritual
Burned as sacred incense across Mediterranean cultures.
We stand behind every grain of our resin. If you're not delighted, contact us and we'll make it right — no questions asked.
Labdanum is a rich, resinous exudate from Cistus ladanifer bushes native to the Mediterranean. It has been prized for millennia in perfumery, incense, and traditional medicine for its warm, balsamic aroma.
Raw labdanum can be used in several ways: warm it gently to release its scent, dissolve it in a carrier oil for perfumery, or burn small pieces on charcoal as incense. It is also used in balms and traditional skincare preparations.
We ship to all EU countries plus Switzerland, Norway, the UK, and more with free delivery on orders over €50. Delivery typically takes 3–7 business days.
Our resin is gently collected by hand from wild Cistus bushes in the Algarve hills. We use traditional methods that respect the plant's natural cycle, allowing the bush to regenerate between harvests.
Store in a cool, dark place in an airtight container. Properly stored, raw labdanum resin can last for years and even improve in complexity over time.
When stored properly, raw labdanum resin has an exceptionally long shelf life — years, if not decades. Like a fine wine, it deepens and mellows with age.
